the disconnection or separation of something from something else or the state of being disconnected.
Dissociation is a common coping mechanism survivors develop to deal with trauma. Dissociation is feeling like your mind and body are in two different places. It may feel like you're watching your life happen from the outside. It is completely normal to experience dissociation during and after trauma
